How often should you lubricate a bike chain?
It depends on the conditions. In the dry, every 150 to 200 km. After riding in rain or mud, every time - water washes the lubricant away and leaves the chain exposed. The sign is audible: a squeaking chain is a dry chain.
The right order
- Degrease - removes old grease mixed with grit. That mixture is what wears down the cassette teeth.
- Wash - bike cleaner on the frame and components.
- Dry - lubricant won't stick to a wet chain.
- Lubricate - link by link, turning the pedals backwards.
- Wipe off the excess - whatever stays on the outside only attracts dust.
What's in this collection
- Bike Cleaner 500 ml - frame and components.
- Chain Degreaser 500 ml.
- Chain Lubricant 125 ml.
- Total Shine 500 ml - finish for the frame.
The most common mistake
Lubricating on top of old grease. The chain looks cared for, but inside it's running with grit - and the drivetrain wears out much faster. Degreasing first is what makes the difference.
