Clean, dry tyre. Apply directly, all the way round the sidewall.

With an applicator or microfibre, no build-up at the bottom of the sidewall.

The shine sets, stays dry to the touch and does not run onto the wheel.

What it is

Detail Series Tyre Shine is the formula we use at home when we want the rubber looking as it left the factory. It restores the deep black and gives an elegant shine that lasts. None of the wet look of a petrol station gel. It does not stick to your hands, dries quickly and repels water. Made in Sintra, Portugal, where we have formulated car care products since 1976.

Who it is for

You wash the car and by day three the tyre is grey again - and the petrol station gel has run down the wheel with the first rain. This one dries to the touch and stays put. Apply and go: tyres done before you leave the garage.

Is Redex Tyre Shine any good?

Yes, for what it does: it gives the rubber the deep black and even shine of a new tyre, without the oily film that attracts dust. It's the same formula we develop and bottle at Plurifil in Sintra. It doesn't last forever: with the road and rain the effect wears off, and you reapply when you notice the tyre turning dull again.

Does it give that new-tyre black look?

Yes. It goes deep black with an even shine, like a tyre fresh out of the showroom. It isn't the wet gel effect that shines too much and then runs onto the wheel.

Does the shine run onto the wheel?

Not if you apply a thin coat. More product doesn't mean more shine, it means runs, especially on the lower part of the tyre. With a thin, well-spread coat it's dry to the touch and stays where you put it.

Does it attract road dust?

Less than most petrol-station gels, because it dries to the touch and doesn't stay sticky. Even so, it's rubber exposed to the road: with miles and rain, some dust will always build up. No tyre shine stands up to the road forever.

How long does the shine last?

It lasts several washes. How long it really lasts depends on the miles you drive, the rain and how often you wash the car. When you notice the tyre turning dull again, it's time to reapply.

Can I apply it before rain or before washing the car?

Always apply it to a tyre that's already washed and dry. Once it's dry to the touch the coating repels water, so you don't need to wait for a dry day to use the car. What you should avoid is applying it to a wet tyre or in the minutes before washing it again: the product hasn't set yet and comes off with the water.
