THE PRODUCT
About this product
Redex Car Shampoo is the car shampoo we use for the weekly hand wash, with a bucket and a sponge or microfibre wash mitt. It dilutes in water, foams up, and washes, waxes and dries without spotting in a single step, without harming the paintwork. It is formulated and bottled by Plurifil at our factory in Sintra, Portugal.
It comes in 1 L, if you wash your car now and then, and in 5 L, if you wash more often or have more than one car at home. If you are after a thicker foam to apply with a foam gun or foam cannon before washing, that is the job of Snow Foam Detail, a different product for a different step of the routine.
FAQ
Yes, for what it's made for: an easy weekly hand wash that won't harm the paintwork. It washes, waxes and dries without spotting, all in one product. It isn't a professional detailing shampoo. It's the shampoo for people who wash their car at home and want the essentials done well.
This shampoo is made for washing, not decontaminating. It's gentle in the way it acts on the paintwork, so it isn't aggressive enough to strip wax or sealant in a normal wash. We don't have an exact figure for how many washes a protective layer lasts before it starts to fade. If that matters to you, apply a wax after drying the car, such as Redex Super Wax.
According to the safety data sheet linked on this page, the pH is between 7 and 8, practically neutral. Important note: that sheet identifies the product by code 45414, the version that also existed in 2 L. The code for the 1 L bottle is 45412. We treat the value as indicative of the same formula family, not as an exact certified figure for this specific SKU.
The label and technical data sheet don't give an exact number of washes. It depends on how much water you use in the bucket and how dirty the car is. As a rough guide, the 1 L is for people who wash their car now and then. The 5 L, also available in a box of 3, is for people who wash more often or have more than one car at home.
Dilute it in a bucket of water and wash by hand with a sponge or mitt. That's what it's formulated for. It isn't the thick foam formula designed for foam guns or foam cannons. For that step, the right product is Snow Foam Detail.
The formula already contains wax and leaves some protection and shine from the wash itself. If you want longer-lasting shine or stronger protection, apply a separate wax after drying the car, such as Redex Super Wax. It's an extra step, not a must, for those who want to go further.
